Allison Siebern, PhD, CBSM

Dr. Allison Siebern, PhD, CBSM is a Stanford-trained sleep specialist and licensed clinical health psychologist, board certified in Behavioral Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Sleep Medicine. She specializes in integrative treatments for sleep disorders and neurological wellness and is also the creator of sleepfitness.com. Dr. Siebern consults with companies on sleep health science, is published in peer-reviewed journals, has given talks at national conferences, and has been interviewed by many national media outlets on sleep health topics.

"Proper sleep is figuring out what works for you and what gives you a better quality of life. Ultimately, we care about sleep because it affects how we feel during the daytime. It's really more about quality of life, and if we are engaging in the things that we value and that gives us purpose, and getting proper sleep really helps bring us in that direction."

Alice D. Hirschel, PhD

Dr. Alice Hirschel, PhD is Proper's Head Formulation Scientist. She has 19 years of experience working in research and product formulation, with her current role as the Technical Business Director at ABITEC Corporation and her previous position as a Product Development Scientist at GNC. Dr. Hirschel earned her PhD in Nutritional Science from the University of Texas at Austin. She consults with food, nutrition and supplement companies in formulating a variety of delivery forms with a variety of active ingredients, developing clinical studies and reviewing scientific literature to support label claims, and to support creative and marketing efforts for ingredients and finished products.

"From the beginning, Proper emphasized the need to be science backed, which aligns with my expertise and experience. There are a lot of products on the market that may use clinically studied ingredients, but they may not include the appropriate dose. Proper's ingredients were not only chosen for their clinical studies, but included at the right dosage to target different aspects of sleep in the sleep cycle."

Adam Perlman, MD, MPH

Dr. Adam Perlman, MD, MPH is the Director for Integrative Health & Wellbeing for Mayo Clinic Florida. He is board certified in internal medicine and specializes in both integrative and functional medicine. Prior to joining Mayo Clinic, he was Associate Vice President for Health and Wellness for the Duke University Health System. He received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine where he completed a residency and research fellowship in general internal medicine, a preventative medicine residency, and a Master of Public Health. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and published in numerous peer-reviewed journals.

Ruchir P. Patel MD, MB BCh, FACP

Dr. Ruchir Patel, MD, MB BCh, FACP, is a fellowship-trained sleep medicine specialist and double board-certified in Sleep Medicine and Internal Medicine. He has been practicing full time sleep medicine for the last 10 years. He has dedicated his career to the appropriate diagnosis and treatment of all sleep disorders and, in 2012, founded The Insomnia and Sleep Institute of Arizona in Scottsdale, AZ. Dr. Patel received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, followed by his residency in Internal Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital and a fellowship training program in Sleep Disorders Medicine at Rush University Medical Center.

"The big issue that Proper is addressing is access to sleep care, because there are not enough of us that are formally trained in sleep medicine. Proper is implementing a new way to get individuals to recognize the importance of good sleep and learn ways to improve their sleep."

Eileen Leary, PhD, RPSGT, RST

Dr. Eileen B. Leary, PhD, RPSGT, RST is a tenacious sleep nerd with 20 years of research and data analysis experience. She began her career as a sleep technologist before transitioning to data science to improve the quality of life for people with sleep problems by developing new diagnostic tools. She has both a MS and PhD in Epidemiology and Clinical Research from Stanford University. Currently, Eileen is focusing her energy on real-world evidence research to better understand how sleep medications affect people with sleep problems.

"I've been in sleep medicine for some time, and I'm skeptical about a lot of supplements. I have a lot of concern about the lack of regulation related to supplements. When I first met with the Proper team, I wanted to see if the product actually works and the evidence behind the ingredients to show that there's a difference between the results versus a placebo effect."

Dr. Siobhan Hanlon, ND

Dr. Siobhan Hanlon, ND, is considered one of New York’s leading Naturopathic doctors devoted to healing patients through a holistic approach. Prior to earning her doctorate, Dr. Hanlon counseled troubled individuals in an intensive outpatient substance abuse program as a social worker and youth counselor. Dr. Hanlon earned her doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine at the University of Bridgeport.
