The evidence is clear. Behavioral coaching works.

  • More refreshing sleep

Sleep education and 1:1 behavioral coaching for workers with insomnia was shown to decrease average PSQI scores by 1.0, an indication of significant sleep quality improvements.

  • Increased daytime energy

Health coaching for patients in a primary care practice resulted in an improved sleep quality score (P=0.16), along with a trend towards decreased fatigue.

  • Improved mood

A 12-week wellness coaching program was found to positively impact 3 key areas of psychosocial functioning (including mood) by reducing participants’ levels of depressive symptoms (P<.0001).

  • Better health

Behavioral intervention proven effective for adults without sleep disorders. Found to have a significant effect on health with lower PSQI scores (g = −0.54, [95% confidence interval] −0.90 to −0.19, p < 0.01).

What Happens In Sleep Coaching?

With sleep coaching, your coach will help guide you to a deeper understanding of your sleep issue, share their knowledge of sleep science, and support you in taking action to improve your sleep.

When Will I See Improvement In My Sleep?

True sleep improvement doesn’t happen overnight (although we wish!). Clinical research and our advisors indicate lasting behavior change takes 2-3 months. With Proper’s coaching, you’ll be tracking your behaviors and progress towards improved sleep quality through the daily sleep journal and weekly insights from your coach.

Is Every Sleep Coaching Session The Same?

Definitely not! Your sleep coach tailors each session to what you need, whether it’s celebrating improvement and reflecting on your wins, getting guidance to adjust or expand your plan, or learning about a new topic in sleep science.

Is There A Recommended Cadence To Meeting With My Sleep Coach?

Everyone’s needs are unique, but we recommend meeting or messaging with your sleep coach every two weeks to stay on track and continue the momentum to create lasting change.
